The City of Big Lake

Overview

Big Lake is located on the shores of both Big Lake and Mitchell Lake and is at the southern entry point for the Sherburne County National Wildlife Refuge and the Sand Dunes State Forest. The City is located midway between Minneapolis and St. Cloud, at the intersection of US highway 10 and MN 25.

Commercial Transportation
There area has I-94 three miles from town. There is also US-10 that is located within city limits.

The population of Big Lake in 2000 was 6,063 people that was spread out with 32.5% under the age of 18, 9.8% from 18 to 24, 37.3% from 25 to 44, 14.8% from 45 to 64, and 5.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median income for a household in the city was $50,658, and the median income for a family was $54,038.
