Overview
Elk River is located 35 miles northwest of Downtown Minneapolis in Sherburne County, the 29th fastest growing county in the nation (of counties with 10,000 or more population by percent change from July 1, 2001 to July 1, 2002) Source: U.S. Census Bureau, Population Division. Elk River is the Sherburne County seat and covers an area of 44 square miles with a population of over 22,000 people. With over 500 businesses, we provide employment as well as an abundance of services, from commercial to industrial to financial. We offer a wide variety of recreational opportunities as well as a newly revitalized downtown, and are excited to be a stop on the long awaited Northstar Commuter Rail! Our Riverfront Concert Series offers free events throughout the summer located right along the Mississippi River.
